Everything East of the Gulf State Park is usually refered to as Orange Beach. A few years ago, the area immediately to the East of the State Park was commonly called Romar Beach, and some of the condos along that stretch of beach reflect that name, but now-a-days you hear the name 'Romar Beach' less and less.

These maps show the roads in the Gulf Shores / Orange Beach areas that are consideres the 'Main Drags'
Hwy 182 along the beach is called Beach Blvd. and Hwy 180 to the West of Hwy 59 is called Canal Road. On the other side of Hwy 59, Hwy 180 is called Ft. Morgan Rd. On some of the Mapquest type online maps it is still labeled with an older name--'Dixie Graves Parkway' but no one down here calls it that. Sometimes Hwy 59 is referred to as Gulf Shores Parkway, but mostly people just say '59'.

Ft. Morgan is the long peninsula off to the left of Hwy 59.  You turn on Hwy 180 West and it is about 22 miles all the way to teh end of the road where the historic Fort Morgan Fort is located. The Dauphin Island Ferry leaves from the end of Ft. Morgan Road every 1 1/2 hr in the summer for Dauphin Island and back.
